We recently supplied and installed a 10 tonne SWL single girder electric overhead travelling crane for SDC Trailers Ltd in Mansfield. The crane has a 20m span, a 9.5m lifting height and is fitted with 2 x 5 tonne hoists with tandem lifting capability.

The two 5 tonne hoists can be operated independently or together, allowing operators to lift loads of up to 10 tonnes when tandem lifting is required. The crane is operated by remote control, giving the operator greater flexibility when positioning loads.

The crane was installed onto the customer’s existing gantry steelwork and connected to their existing power feed system, making use of the infrastructure already on site.

A recently completed overhead travelling crane, manufactured, delivered and installed by Harold Potter.

This 2T Safe Working Load (SWL) overhead travelling crane has a 7m span, 14m gantry and 4m lifting height, providing reliable lifting capacity across the customer’s workshop.

The crane is fitted with power busbar, pendant control and radio remote control, giving the operator flexibility when positioning loads.

The complete installation was fully tested and certified by Harold Potter.

A crane load test was carried out on the A and B outdoor gantry extensions prior to handover for our friends at FP McCann, Byley. The completed extensions allow the client to move finished products directly into the storage area without the need for trailers.

Each of the four cranes was load tested using specific weights corresponding to its individual Safe Working Load (SWL). The cranes were: 1x25T, 1x16T, 1x15T, and 1x10T.

During testing, all deflections of the crane bridge beams and gantry steelwork were measured and confirmed to be within the regulated tolerances.

The gantry extensions intersect with the existing Goliath crane pathway. To ensure safe operation and prevent any possibility of collision with the current Goliath cranes, the new installation has been fitted with multiple electronic limit switches and distance sensors.

Harold Potter manufactured and installed a new 12-metre runway beam system to provide a reliable lifting solution tailored to the customer’s operational requirements.

As part of the project, we installed a new electrical power supply system for the runway beam, ensuring the crane could operate safely and efficiently across its full length. The existing hoist was removed and re-fitted onto the new runway beam system, allowing the customer to retain their existing lifting equipment while benefiting from an upgraded installation.

To complete the installation, we re-routed the existing electrical supply to feed the new runway beam, integrating the new system with the customer’s current infrastructure while minimising disruption to operations.

Once the installation was complete, the entire system underwent comprehensive testing to verify the safe operation of the runway beam, hoist and electrical components. Following successful testing, the installation was fully certified, providing the customer with confidence that the new lifting system met the required safety and operational standards.

Our team recently manufactured and installed a new 1T capacity Swing Jib Crane after a total in-house fabrication. The crane has a height of 4.5m from the underside of the beam to the finished floor level. The radius of the arm is 4.25m, with a manual slew, an electric hoist, and an electric travelling trolley. This Swing Jib Crane was installed for a customer in Hertfordshire.

We recently completed an installation of a 12.5T Safe Working Load (SWL) Goliath crane with a 30 metre span at JRL Trent Precast in Skelmersdale. The crane was installed with travel beacons, storm anchors, wireless remote controls, and anti-collision sensors to prevent unwanted collision with long travel and cross travel buffers.

We have installed 4x 5T Safe Working Load (SWL) Single Girder Overhead Gantry Cranes. These are new cranes, where we have designed a solution to allow for additional lifting height by stooling the cranes up, as seen in the images. The cranes have been fitted with our latest technology, including: anti-collision sensors, slow down stops at the end of the gantry, remote controlled movement of the cranes and hoist, and the new load monitor hoist which displays the weight lifted digitally on the hoist. The load monitor hoist will also alert the operators if they have exceeded the recommended maximum load, reinforcing operator safety .

We recently installed a 3.2T Safe Working Load (SWL) Overhead Crane into the workshop at Aburnets in Ilkeston. We used the existing building structured and designed the rails, and full system to suit the existing building. The crane will be used for the lifting of beams and the manufacturing of hair nets.

Installation of two Overhead Cranes for Garmendale Engineering in Ilkeston. This project included the design and manufacturing so the cranes we supplied would fit into two existing but separate workshops.  Harold Potter installed one 7.5T Safe Working Load (SWL) Overhead Crane in one building, and a second crane was a 8.5T SWL Overhead Crane. These cranes are used in assistance of moving and constructing engineering solutions for theme park rides and carriages.

Installation and modification of multiple Overhead Cranes at the Vistry Group factory in Coalville. We installed two Overhead Cranes with two chain hoists that have a Safe Working Load (SWL) of 1T. We also installed another crane that was a tandem system to an existing crane so we changed the hoist on the existing crane. Finally, we did a gantry extension with a buzz bar installation.

The cranes are used in the Vistry Group factory for lifting and handling of large timber frames and panels that are used for the housing industry.
